Chapman Road, Rapid Creek
A major two-phase renovation
In phase one we constructed a freestanding studio with suspended cypress flooring, two bedrooms and a bathroom with stone pebble floor, stone vanity and cedar privacy louvers. This phase also included a steel-framed entertainment area. In phase two we converted a small, pre-cyclone dwelling into an ultra-modern ‘tree house’, which involved enclosing the existing open-air structure. This included insulating walls and ceilings and installing louvers and hopper windows. Floors were re-sanded and extra features like exposed rafters and gas-strut windows incorporated. Both the studio and the tree house are ambient and tropical and have excellent airflow. An outdoor entertaining area with bar, barbecue and seating was added with full landscaping. The result is a thoroughly unique and quintessentially tropical home that reflects the type of workmanship Paul McGrath’s Construction is increasingly being recognised for.
This property was the winner of 2011 MBA ‘Renovation of the Year’.
